(Fergus Falls, Minn.) – Greater Fergus Falls (GFF) is pleased to announce the expansion of Sugar & Flour, a local cottage bakery business, located at 210 W. Cavour Avenue in Fergus Falls.
The business will offer a variety of quality baked goods!
A new generation of sconepreneurs, danish makers, and cake bakers are satisfying the hunger for artisanal, homemade food products, all made in the owners’ home kitchens.
Thanks to the “cottage food law” in the State of Minnesota, food entrepreneurs, like Sami Jo Iverson of Sugar & Flour, can launch a business from their home kitchen.
More Americans than ever before are interested in local, artisanal and specialty food products, according to the National Specialty Food Association and they’re willing to pay top dollar for great-tasting, hand-decorated treats made in small batches by cottage bakers like Sami Jo, who always dreamed of owning her own bakery.
Sugar & Flour has been operating a home-based cottage food business since 2023.
They specialize in scones, danishes, muffins, decadent tarts, custom cakes, and sourdough breads.
Their baked goods will be available to purchase at their new bakery case located in Mullen’s Insurance building later this month.

As an early-stage entrepreneur, owner Sami Jo has been working with GFF through their Entrepreneur Initiative to receive free and confidential one-on-one consulting for start-ups.
The program provides in-person, virtual or hybrid coaching options for start-ups and technical assistance to existing business owners.
