Some Fergus Falls residents have noticed the smoke coming from the west side of town. Fergus Falls Fire Department Chief Ryan Muchow, has confirmed that it is from the Minnesota DNR conducting a prescribed fire.
Chief Muchow said in a statement; “The fire, is located west of Fergus Falls on County Road 15. Due to the light westerly wind, we are seeing the smoke enter our community.”
Chief Muchow did mention that the Fergus Falls Fire Department is conducting a couple of small vegetation burns at Pebble Lake Golf Course and Ferber Park today; however, the smoke impact from these are minimal.
