Fergus Falls, MN – Sue “Ellie” Ellis is retiring from her role as Traffic Director of the Leighton Media office in Fergus Falls.

Ellie started her radio career in 2006 on the KJ Country Morning Show, before Lakes Radio was purchased by Leighton Media.

She spent the first few years as an on-air and commercial personality, while gradually being taught in the ways of radio traffic.

Ellie says that her favorite memory at Leighton is when she moved into the role of Traffic Director.

She says, “I’d wanted it (the position of Traffic Director) for a while and there was always somebody else in it that I was assisting. The day that I got the job, I was so happy. I have loved every minute in my office of this job.”

She adds that she also loved hearing the stories of the times before she started in radio, when directing traffic was more hands on, and less digitized.

Ellie says that in retirement, she’s looking forward to spending more time with her grandsons and watching them grow, “They’re involved in sports and now I don’t have to say I have to work. I can just say, ‘yes I’ll be there to watch.’ So I’m really looking forward to that. That’s my biggest thing.”

Ellie, thank you for your 18 years of service and hard work, and we wish you luck on the next stage of your life.
