Pelican Rapids, MN – On April 25th, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Chauncey Martin multipurpose building was held and the building is now open to the public.

The project was a collaboration between the City of Pelican Rapids, Pelican Rapids School District, Otter Tail County, and several other organizations.

The building offers a range of amenities serving various interests, including bicyclists, school sporting events, and recreational enthusiasts.

The facility will be managed by the Pelican Rapids School District and it will be accessible to the public during daylight hours, or from around 7 in the morning until 9 at night.

Commissioner Wayne Johnson, District 2, emphasized the collaboration that led to the project, stating, “This is a good deal for everyone all around. The school has an updated facility for sporting events, the city’s pickleball teams have nearby restrooms, and those using the beautiful trail have access to bike-friendly amenities.”

The facility features accessible restrooms with ample stalls, a heated warming house, a shower room for sports officials/referees, a storage area, a spacious concession stand, and a large parking area with bike racks and a bicycle repair station.

Trevor Steeves, Pelican Rapids School District Building and Ground Superintendent led a tour during the ceremony event, showcasing the new facility’s features.

Superintendent Brian Korf and Mayor Brent Frazier were among those who expressed thanks for the partnership between the Pelican Rapids School District, the City of Pelican Rapids, and Otter Tail County.

They emphasized the success of the organizations working together to create a facility that will benefit and can be shared by students, residents, and visitors alike.

Additional contributions from PartnerSHIP4Health and West Central Initiative enhanced amenities such as custom bike racks and repair stations.
