Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes Fire Department responded to a call of a fire at the Menards store in Detroit Lakes at around 7:05 Wednesday morning (May 1st).

The fire began when the backlighting behind the paint section shorted out and sparked a fire.

The fire was quickly extinguished and the store was open for business within an hour.

Fire Chief Mike Hansen says the credit goes to the employees who quickly used extinguishers to put most of the fire out before the Fire Department arrived.

Pulling up to the loading dock on the southwest side of the building, the Fire Department cleaned up the location from chemicals and secured proper ventilation in the store.
