Chaos on Main Street, Intoxicated Man Assaults Juvenile and Damages Police Property

Fergus Falls, MN – On Tuesday, May 14th  A man was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon following a violent altercation on downtown Main Street in front of the Old City Bakery.

The Fergus Falls Police Department responded to the incident on the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue, where 48-year-old Allen Charles Sheppard was found assaulting a juvenile.

Upon arrival, officers immediately intervened and detained Sheppard, who was reportedly reeking of alcohol.

Witnesses noted that Sheppard’s behavior became increasingly erratic and aggressive, as he shouted profanities at both the officers and bystanders.

Once Sheppard was secured in the backseat of a squad car, his aggression escalated further. He began kicking the car door, causing damages estimated to exceed $1,000.

At the county jail, Sheppard initially claimed he would cease his violent behavior, but soon resumed his aggression, this time directing it at the officers.

In a dramatic turn of events, Sheppard started banging his head against the garage floor of the jail’s sally port, resulting in a laceration on his forehead.

Despite repeated attempts to subdue him, Sheppard continued to resist, leading officers to pin him to the ground and place a padded helmet on him to prevent further self-inflicted injuries.

His violent outbursts persisted, prompting officers to place him in a hobble restraint and eventually secure him in a restraint chair.

Sheppard has been charged with one count of criminal damage to property, one count of obstructing legal process and interfering with a peace officer, and one count of fifth-degree assault.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges or amendments to the existing charges.

A search of public records for Allen Charles Sheppard, shows a plethora of charges spanning nearly 30 years, including multiple assaults, obstruction, criminal damage to property and much more.
