Fergus Falls, MN – Otter Tail Power Company is holding open-house style tours of its Hoot Lake Solar facility on May 22nd and 23rd (Wednesday and Thursday).
Hoot Lake Solar is Otter Tail Power Company’s first large-scale capital investment (around $62 million) in solar generation.
The 49-megawatt solar generation facility in Fergus Falls has nearly 130,000 solar panels that generate enough energy to power approximately 9,000 homes each year.
After years on planning and 16 months of construction, Hoot Lake Solar began producing electricity in early 2023.
The tours will be taking place from 11-1 and 4-7 on both Wednesday and Thursday.
There will be free-standing presentation, solar panel and inverter demonstration, and a short bus tour of the facility.
Parking is available on-site and tours are expected to last around half an hour.
It is recommended that visitors wear closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather.
