A Wilkin County K9 Deputy’s Investigation Leads to Major Drug Bust

Breckenridge, MN – Wilkin County Deputy Alec Gjerdevig made a traffic stop on Highway 55 on Saturday (May 25th).

With information learned during the traffic stop, K9 Zar had his first deployment with Deputy Gjerdevig, who has recently taken over handling K9 Zar.

The K9 sniff resulted in locating 3 ounces of methamphetamine.

As a result of the traffic stop, the investigation led to a search warrant at a residence in the City of Breckenridge.

As a result of the search warrant, 9 ounces of methamphetamine, needles, other drug paraphernalia, and $1,380 were seized.

Wilkin County Sheriff Tony Harris congratulated the pair on Facebook, posting, “Congratulations to Deputy Gjerdevig and K9 Zar on a very successful narcotics investigation and removing 12 ounces of Methamphetamine from our community.”

Deputy Gjerdevig has been training with K9 Zar over the past several months.

Recently, the pair travelled to Wisconsin, where they were both certified in narcotics detection and tracking.
