Fergus Falls, MN – At around 3:35 on Wednesday afternoon (June 12th), the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department responded to a tractor roll-over off of County Highway 86, just West of the Fergus Falls Municipal Airport.
Upon arrival, deputies determined that the victim, 73-year-old Gerald Peterson, was pinned under the back of the tractor and was pronounced deceased at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.
Officials say that the vehicle tracks indicate Peterson was heading North on Highway 86 before exiting the roadway into the steep West ditch, causing the tractor to roll and partially eject him.
The incident is under investigation.
The Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Fergus Falls Police Department, Ringdahl Ambulance, Fergus Falls Fire, and Rothsay Fire.
