Otter Tail County, MN – National Click It or Ticket enforcement awareness was May 20th – June 2nd.

The Safe Communities Coalition held a campaign called “Click it for Coffee” to raise awareness and encourage the community to wear their seat belts.

Two coffee shops in Otter Tail County participated in this campaign, Nest in Perham and Perk’s Coffee and Tea in Fergus Falls.

Through this campaign, individuals who came through the coffee drive-through wearing their seat belts received $1 off their order.

Nest participated in this campaign for two days during the seat belt mobilization period.

They handed out 175 discounts to customers who were wearing their seat belts.

Perks Coffee and Tea also saw big numbers of seat belt users at their drive thrus between both the Fergus Falls Washington location and Fir Avenue location.

Safe Communities Coalition coordinator, Emily Frustol, stated, “this event was designed to encourage the community and reward them for
making the smart choice to wear their seat belts. Buckling up is a quick, but important decision and has proven to save lives.”

A record 93.4% of Minnesotans are buckling up! Otter Tail County ranks in the top 10 counties for the number of unbelted fatalities and serious injuries.

As the number of Minnesotans buckling up continues to rise, we expect Otter Tail County’s unbelted fatalities and serious injuries to decline.

Join your fellow Minnesotans and buckle up because seat belts save lives!
