Scammers have been impersonating Minnesota Housing on Facebook, directing Minnesotans to apply for nonexistent housing and vouchers online or in person.
The fraudulent pages, now taken down, used identities including “Minnesota Housing Authority” and “Minnesota Housing Development Authority.”
Scammers lured people to follow links that asked for personal information that could put them at risk for identity theft.
Minnesota Housing says it does not manage housing waitlists or issue housing vouchers.
