Fergus Falls, MN – 23-year-old Frankie J Reed III of Fergus Falls has been sentenced to over 6 years in prison after pleading guilty to 3rd Degree Murder.

According to court documents, the Fergus Falls Police Department was dispatched to Matthew House, a multi-unit transitional housing facility, in response to a report of a drug overdose on March 30th, 2023.

Officers arrived and located Matthew Millsop in a second-floor bedroom across from his assigned room.

Millsop was transported by ambulance to Lake Region Hospital where he was determined deceased.

Officers spoke with the resident that had found Millsop and called 911.

They told the officers that Millsop had said earlier in the afternoon that he was going to meet his friend Frankie at the M&H gas station.

Law enforcement located M30 pills in the victim’s bedroom that they suspected to be fentanyl.

Another resident confirmed that the M30 pills were Millsop’s and that he had purchased them from an individual from M&H gas station.

After receiving a list of the gas station employees, the resident identified Reed as the person who sold Millsop the pills.

Officials met with Reed on April 4th, 2023 and he admitted to selling the pills to the victim and had sold to him in the past.

According to Reed, he had purchased the pills in Fargo and brought them to Fergus Falls with the sole intent to sell them to Millsop, who Reed also said believed the pills were Percocet.

On a notepad he had requested from the officers, Reed wrote a letter apologizing for causing Millsop’s death.

The autopsy reported Millsop’s cause of death as Fentanyl toxicity.

In May of 2024, Reed plead guilty to 3rd Degree Murder via selling a controlled substance.

On Monday (July 1st), Reed was sentenced to 74 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud.
