Man Found Unresponsive after Disappearing in Little Detroit Lake

Detroit Lakes, MN – At around 3:25 Saturday afternoon (July 6th), the Becker County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a 24-year-old male that had been swimming in Little Detroit Lake, away from shore, and had gone underwater near Zorbaz.

When first responders arrived, a search had already begun from citizens on the scene, and the man was located a couple minutes later.

The man was unresponsive and not breathing.

He was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes and has been transported to a Fargo area hospital.

His current condition is unknown.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Becker County Sheriff’s Office.

The name of the victim is being withheld at this time so the family can be properly notified.

The Becker County Sheriff’s Office, Detroit Lakes Police Department, MN DNR Conservation Office, Becker County Dive Team, and St. Mary’s EMS responded to the scene.
