Pelican Rapids, MN – According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the south portion of Highway 59 in Pelican Rapids, from the new roundabout at the Highway 108 East and West Mill intersection to Fifth Avenue Southeast, has been reopened to all traffic.

Over the next few weeks, crews will be wrapping up work in this area, referred to as Stages 1A and 1B, so motorists should expect to encounter workers and occasional lane closures.

North of the Highway 59/Highway 108 East intersection, Highway 59 remains closed through the Highway 108 west intersection up to Fifth Avenue Northeast for Stages 1C and 2A of the project.

The in-town traffic detour follows West Mill, First Avenue Southwest and Fifth Avenue Northwest.

Highway 59 and Highway 108 thru-traffic and truck detour routes remain in place, and vary depending on direction of travel.

Pelican Rapids businesses are open during construction.

Residents and patrons should follow the signed detours for navigation in-town, both for motorists and pedestrians.

MnDOT requests motorists use Fifth Avenue Northeast to access businesses on the northeast side of town.
