Joseph Greene III (OTCDF)
Pelican Rapids, MN – Earlier this week, 40-year-old Joseph Greene III plead guilty to 2nd Degree Assault with a Deadly Weapon as part of a plea agreement with Otter Tail County prosecutors.
According to court documents, a warrant was issued for Greene’s arrest on August 6th, 2021, following a report of domestic violence in Pelican Rapids. Officers spoke with the victim on August 3rd and she told them that she had been in a relationship with Greene for around 6 months. During that time, she said Greene had isolated her from her family, assaulted her, and threatened to kill her children and her family if she ever called the police.
The victim also described a specific encounter for police that included Greene hitting her in the head with a vodka bottle, cutting her knuckles with a knife, and stabbing her in the arm with the knife. Officials say she had scarring that matched the descriptions of these parts of the assault. The victim said she even told people she had COVID so she could isolate herself and keep them from seeing her injuries.
On Monday (October 7th), Greene plead guilty to one count of 2nd Degree Assault with a Deadly Weapon in exchange for the dismissal of the other counts of assault and domestic assault he was charged with. His sentencing is set for January 30th, 2025.
Greene was previously convicted of Felony Domestic Assault on June 10th, 2015 and of Second Degree Assault on June 10th, 2015 in Steele County.
