Starting tonight (Friday) familiar bells will be ringing across the area, as the Salvation Army has their annual Kettle Kickoff. This year’s Kettle Kickoff for the Salvation Army of Otter Tail County will once again be held at Service Food of Fergus Falls. The event will start at 5 with the youth group singing Christmas Carols, plus the canteen will be serving up treats. This year’s kettle goal of $82,000, is a bit smaller than in years past, Lt. Josh Bower said that it is due to the shortened kettle season.
The Salvation Army has added a new way to give, Tip Tap.
Bower explained; “Tip Tap is a brand-new way to give. We listen to the feedback of our donors and those who ring the bells, and one thing we’ve heard a lot is people don’t carry as much cash anymore. This is a complete virtual way to give at every location, you’ll see a sign called A Tip Tap. You’ll just take your debit or your credit card touch the number that you want to give and it goes straight into the Christmas Kettle goal.“
The Salvation Army is still looking for volunteers to ring the bell at the kettles, to sign up you can go to registertoring.com.
