Pelican Rapids Crash Leaves a Man with Life Threatening Injuries

Pelican Rapids, MN – A head-on collision in Pelican Rapids Thursday night has left two residents injured. The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the scene at around 6:14 Thursday evening.

According to officials, a Toyota Rav4 driven by 28-year-old Mercedes De Los Angeles Morales Mondragon was travelling north on Highway 59 and a Honda Civic driven by 55-year-old Steven Andrew Kieffer was travelling south on the highway when they collided near mile marker 244.

Kieffer suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Sanford Hospital for treatment. Morales Mondragon was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary’s for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The State Patrol was assisted by the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department, Pelican Rapids Police and Fire Departments, and Ringdahl Ambulance.
