Detroit Lakes, MN – A Detroit Lakes man is injured after driving into the back of a snowplow on Highway 34, east of Detroit Lakes.
The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the scene at around 6:58 Monday morning (December 16th).
According to officials, 23-year-old Austin Lee Engel was travelling west on Highway 34 behind a MnDOT snowplow. Engel’s vehicle collided with the back of the plow truck between mile markers 47 and 48.
Engel was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the snowplow, 28-year-old Zachary Allen Krause of Detroit Lakes, also received non-life-threatening injuries, but he was not transported from the scene.
Officials say the roads were icy at the time of the accident.
The State Patrol was assisted by St. Mary’s Ambulance.
