St. Paul, MN – Yesterday (December 19th), KARE 11 reported on federal indictments against Evergreen Recovery revealing $30 million in fraudulent Medicaid payments for services never performed or significantly exaggerated.
Senator Jordan Rasmusson (R-Fergus Falls) released the following statement in response:
“Another day, another Minnesota fraud story, this time about $30 million meant to help people with substance abuse. Minnesotans are tired of hearing about their tax dollars being stolen from them. Legislators are tired of hearing about this from media and federal partners, and not from state officials. This case was a long-running, systematic effort to get rich on fraud. It is challenging to legislate the culture needed in our agencies to have an investigative mindset. That change needs to come directly from Governor Tim Walz and Commissioners holding their staff accountable to have strict oversight and to take swift action to spot and stop fraudulent behavior.”
