Fergus Falls, MN – Otter Tail County is pleased to announce that Sean Sullivan has joined the Board of Commissioners. Auditor-Treasurer Wayne Stein presided over the swearing-in ceremony for Commissioner Sullivan on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Commissioner Sullivan was elected in November to represent District 5, filling the seat previously held by retiring Commissioner Lee Rogness.

Commissioner Sullivan brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Born and raised in Moorhead, MN, he moved to Fergus Falls, his wife Kayla’s hometown, in 2009. A graduate of the Naval Nuclear Power School, Sullivan also holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Sioux Falls. After serving six years in the U.S. Navy, Sullivan spent 25 years in the banking sector. He owns a business consulting firm specializing in financial support for small businesses and nonprofits.

“I am eager to get to know the other commissioners and county staff,” said Sullivan. “My main focuses will be fiscal responsibility, the rights and well-being of our citizens, and economic growth.”

This is Commissioner Sullivan’s first elected office. He has been involved in community service, serving on several nonprofit boards, including A Place to Belong, The Welcome House, Dollars for Scholars, United Way, and the Fergus Falls Chamber of Commerce. Sean and his wife Kayla have three grown children and welcomed their first grandchild in 2024.

Nicole Hansen, Otter Tail County’s Administrator, welcomed Sullivan, saying, “We welcome Commissioner Sullivan and are excited to work with him to continue fostering growth and enriching the lives of those who live, work and play in Otter Tail County. He has already started meeting with County leadership to learn more about our work and commitment to public service.”
