Alexandria, MN – No injuries were reported after a truck pulling a fish house broke through the ice on a lake near Alexandria on Tuesday afternoon.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says Christopher Block was driving between Litte Mary and Big Mary Lake on the main channel when he broke into four feet of water.
Block was safe and out of the vehicle when deputies arrived. The ice was only three to four inches thick and near some cattails.
The Minnesota DNR recommends a minimum of 20 inches of ice for heavy-duty trucks with wheelhouse shelters.
