Detroit Lakes, MN – A judge in Becker County is delaying the burglary trial of Senator Nicole Mitchell from Woodbury until after the legislative session.
Mitchell is accused of breaking into her stepmother’s home in Detroit Lakes last April. The court says her trial will commence within 60 days of May 19th, the legislature’s adjournment deadline. Jury selection was scheduled to begin on January 27th.
Senate Republican leader Mark Johnson called Mitchell’s last-minute request to delay trial an “abuse of her status as a state senator.”
