PioneerCare Launches Capital Campaign for Key Remodel Project

Fergus Falls, MN – PioneerCare is announcing the launch of its Capital Campaign to fund a crucial remodel project that will ensure the long-term sustainability of its mission to provide exceptional care for older adults.

This project is essential for PioneerCare to qualify for a special state reimbursement program, which will play a vital role in covering future operating costs associated with the building property. However, the program does not cover the capital expenses needed to complete the remodel, making the community’s support vital to the project’s success.

The campaign goal is $2 million, and PioneerCare is thrilled to share that $850,000 has already been raised through the generosity of early supporters. The community is invited to join this transformative effort and help PioneerCare reach the finish line.

The remodel project is designed to enhance the quality of life for residents, improve infection control protocols, and strengthen the facility’s infrastructure. Key features include:

  • Conversion of double rooms to private rooms to better meet resident needs and preferences.
  • An advanced infection control visiting room to ensure safe connections between residents and loved ones during outbreaks or pandemics.
  • A new upper commons room for residents and families to gather, fostering community and meaningful connections.
  • Mechanical and security enhancements to improve safety and operational efficiency.

“PioneerCare has always been committed to providing compassionate, resident-centered care,” said Nathan Johnson, CEO of PioneerCare. “This remodel is not just a building improvement—it’s a step toward ensuring we can continue to offer high-quality care well into the future. While the state reimbursement program will help cover future operating costs, the capital expenses required to complete the remodel depend on the generosity of our community.”

The Capital Campaign is led by a dedicated team of community leaders, including Dean Monke, Pastor Paul Nelson, and Dr. Patricia Lindholm, who bring passion and expertise to the effort.

“As a longtime supporter of PioneerCare, I am honored to chair this campaign,” said Dean Monke, Campaign Chair. “This project reflects PioneerCare’s commitment to adapting to the evolving needs of residents while staying true to its mission. Together, we can make this vision a reality.”

Pastor Paul Nelson, Campaign Chair, emphasized the spiritual and emotional importance of the remodel: “Caring for older adults with dignity and love is an extension of our faith and values. This project enhances PioneerCare’s ability to serve as a place of healing, connection, and grace.”

For Dr. Patricia Lindholm, the health-focused updates are particularly meaningful. “As a physician, I’m deeply impressed by PioneerCare’s forward-thinking approach to infection control and resident safety. These upgrades will not only protect residents but also ensure they live in an environment that feels like home,” she said.

PioneerCare invites community members to join this campaign and help bridge the gap to reach the $2 million goal.
