Fergus Falls, MN – Two former Casey’s employees and another Fergus Falls resident have been arrested following an investigation into a robbery of the gas station last month.
According to court documents, officials received a report that Casey’s on East Vernon Avenue was robbed in the early morning hours of December 18th. Officials say three suspects entered the gas station with a key and disabled the security system with a code. One of the suspects went immediately into the employee office and unplugged the security cameras as quickly as they could. The trio stole around $5,000 in cash and over 30 cartons of cigarettes.
Despite the suspects’ efforts, the remaining security footage was used to identify a pickup as a vehicle of interest, and after a thorough investigation, three Fergus Falls residents were arrested: 39-year-old Justin Michael Hanson, 42-year-old Jennifer Joyce Loomer, and 44-year-old Ryan Joseph McGuire. Hanson and Loomer were former employees of Casey’s who had been terminated prior to the incident.
Search warrants of the trio’s property gave officials evidence linking them to the crime, including a blue face mask that matched what one of the suspects had been seen wearing in the security footage, keys labeled “Casey’s Safe,” multiple packs of unopened cigarettes, and a text to Loomer from McGuire saying, “Jenny we should go rob cigs from Caseys,” among others.
Following his arrest, McGuire gave officials a statement detailing the events of the robbery, confessing that he and the others had broken into Casey’s and giving the officials details on the incident.
The trio were arrested last week and made their first court appearance Friday morning (January 17th). They were each charged with 2nd Degree Burglary and Receiving Stolen Property.
