
Spencer McGrew, Otter Tail County Aquatic Invasive Species Specialist. (OTC)
Otter Tail County, MN – The Minnesota DNR has announced the election of Spencer McGrew as the New Chair of the Statewide Aquatic Invasive Species Advisory Committee.
As the AIS Specialist for Otter Tail County, McGrew leads a team of 25 trained watercraft inspectors who conducted 11,307 inspections in 2024. He has also collaborated to install 16 I-LIDS camera systems at public accesses, launched two public rinse stations on high-traffic lakes, and actively engages with schools and community organizations to raise awareness about AIS prevention.
Roger Neitzke, Chair of the Otter Tail County AIS Task Force, congratulated McGrew, saying, “Congratulations to Spencer on being elected Chair of the DNR’s Statewide AIS Advisory Committee. His leadership of the Otter Tail County AIS Task Force has been outstanding. His knowledge of AIS threats and his ability to develop effective prevention programs have exceeded all expectations. I look forward to seeing him continue this success at the state level.”
Otter Tail County Public Information Officer Shannon Terry says McGrew’s leadership in Otter Tail County has been instrumental in developing and implementing effective AIS prevention initiatives, and his new role will allow him to bring his expertise and leadership to the statewide level.
