Fergus Falls, MN – A man was arrested over the weekend by the Otter Tail County SWAT Team for threatening to use his gun on his girlfriend.
33-year-old Donavan Trayon Bolden of Brainerd was arrested after authorities were called to a potential domestic incident at a home in rural Fergus Falls.
County prosecutors say that on Friday evening, Bolden’s girlfriend reported that the two of them had gone to Walmart to try and cash a check, but it was denied. Bolden then became upset and said he was, “done being the nice guy,” and that someone was going to get shot in the face.
The victim told deputies that Bolden returned home intoxicated with multiple rounds of 9mm ammunition. She then “antagonized” him about his behavior, which escalated into an altercation where Bolden threw her onto the couch and destroyed multiple items in the home. The victim said he then stated that he would shoot “anybody else that challenged him,” at which point the victim called 911 and left the house.
Deputies say that when they arrived at the house, they were able to get Bolden to leave without incident. A search warrant was issued and authorities were able to recover multiple firearms, including Bolden’s 9mm in a crawlspace.
Prosecutors say that when speaking with the deputies, Bolden said he had not handled the 9mm or any of the other firearms in the last week. When asked why he hid the gun, he said that he knew he wasn’t supposed to be around guns and hid it after his girlfriend called 911.
Bolden has been charged with Gross Misdemeanor Domestic Assault and Felony Threats of Violence.
