Henning, MN – Over $7 million in funding has been awarded to the City of Henning for two critical water infrastructure improvement projects.
Today, State Senator Jordan Rasmusson (R-Fergus Falls) announced that the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority (PFA) has approved the funding for a project financing package for the City of Henning to rehabilitate its aging water treatment facility. The package includes a loan of $2,287,909 through the Drinking Water Revolving Fund, along with a grant of $5,000,000 through the Water Infrastructure Fund, totaling $7,287,909.
“The City of Henning is grateful to receive this funding package for our updated water plant,” Henning Mayor Jesse Hermanson said. “Funding of this nature makes these large projects affordable for a community our size and helps keep down the cost of living for our residents. We would face significant financial difficulty if we had to fund projects like this on our own.”
“Congratulations to the City of Henning for securing a significant investment in its water infrastructure,” Senator Rasmusson said. “Clean water is a priority for all of us. This funding will strengthen Henning’s water systems for years to come.”
The City of Henning’s water treatment facility has exceeded its expected lifespan, leading to periodic water quality issues and costly, frequent maintenance. Significant repairs are needed to ensure reliable service for residents and a neighboring community. However, the high cost of upgrades has caused delays. Now, with funding from the Minnesota PFA, Henning can move forward with these essential improvements without burdening city finances.
