Otter Tail County Commissioner Open House in Henning. (OTC)
Henning, MN – The Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners hosted an open house in Henning this week, bringing together residents and county staff for an evening of meaningful discussions and community engagement. Representatives from multiple county departments shared updates on services and upcoming projects.
Bob Ehlert from the Highway Department provided an overview of upcoming road construction projects, ensuring residents are informed about improvements to local infrastructure. Sheriff Barry Fitzgibbons reassured attendees that the Sheriff’s Office continues to dedicate resources to the ongoing search for Robert Shaw, who is believed to have walked away from his residence in the summer of 2024.
Solid Waste representatives Brooks Anderson and Scott Bjerke discussed the upcoming curbside single-sort recycling option for Henning and shared details about the new transfer station project. County Assessor Heather Jacobson answered questions about property valuations, provided resources to explain the assessment process, and reminded residents of the opportunity to appeal their valuations during upcoming meetings in April.
Amy Baldwin, Community Development and Housing Director, shared updates on broadband expansion efforts in the Henning area and ongoing initiatives to increase housing opportunities for residents.
Chair of the Board of Commissioners Wayne Johnson expressed gratitude for the public’s participation, stating, “We truly value community input in our long-range planning. Your perspectives shape the future of our county, and we appreciate your engagement. These are your plans, and we want to hear from you.”
