Pelican Rapids, MN – This April, road construction will resume on the two-year complete streets reconstruction project in Pelican Rapids.

MnDOT will host a public open house on Thursday, April 17th, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., at the Pelican Rapids Public Library.  No formal presentation is planned, community members can stop in whenever it’s convenient to ask the construction team questions about year two construction and upcoming staging plans.

The exact construction start date this April is dependent on weather and spring load restrictions. Crews will start on Highway 59, between Fifth Avenue Northeast and Eighth Avenue Northwest, Stage 2B of the project. The work in Stage 2B will be completed one lane at a time, with an automated traffic signal to direct traffic through the work zone. Then, a few weeks later in May, crews will also resume work on Highway 108 east, finishing where they stopped last year between 2 ½ Street and Fourth Street.

Starting May 1st, MnDOT and Landwehr Construction, Inc., the prime contractor, will resume weekly in-person construction updates at the Pelican Rapids Public Library at noon on Thursdays. These meetings will continue weekly on Thursdays during construction, based on consistent interest and attendance.

Construction on all remaining stages of the project is expected to wrap up in October 2025.
