Fergus Falls, MN – A Fergus Falls woman has been arrested for threatening a bank employee.

Fergus Falls Police say that on Monday morning, 71-year-old Cynthia Rae Nelson walked into a Fergus Falls bank, made comments about “going postal,” made a gun gesture with her hands, and said that she would be back.

According to court documents, the employee assisting Nelson told officers she was in the bank because they needed to close her account and refund some money. She was upset about a charge from the U.S. Postal Service for $2.16, and the employee proceeded to vacate and refund it to her.

Police say Nelson was extremely agitated and made the comment, “Maybe I’ll go postal,” before telling the employee that is when “people go crazy and shoot a bunch of people,” and made a gesture with her hand as if she was pulling a gun from her hip.

Nelson later said she was unhappy with the bank and told the employee, “I’m not done with you,” before leaving the building. Other employees confirmed the incident and told officers that Nelson called the employee an expletive and held her middle finger up behind her as she walked out.

Police went to Nelson’s home, and she immediately asked if she was being charged with something. The officer said she would likely be charged, and she placed her hands behind her back and told them to take her away.

Nelson is charged with Threatening Violence and Disorderly Conduct and made her first court appearance this morning
