Ault Township, MN – Authorities in northeastern Minnesota say the Camp House wildfire near Brimson continues to grow and is now more than 1,250 acres.
The Jenkins Creek fire was first spotted on Monday about 15 miles south of Hoyt Lakes and is already 1,500 acres in size, and the Munger Shaw fire burning east of Cotton is at 1,300 acres and growing.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office reports more than 40 structures have already been destroyed. Evacuation orders are in place for all fires.
Governor Tim Walz is sending the National Guard to provide emergency assistance to help fight these wildfires. The executive order directs the Guard soldiers to assist the Minnesota Interagency Fire Center with personnel and resources.
Hot and windy conditions are expected again today, which will continue to hinder efforts to contain the wildfires. No injuries have been reported.
