St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is extending the Air Quality Alert for Minnesota through Wednesday, prompted by wildfire smoke from Canada.
The MPCA states that a cold front is drawing smoke from wildfires in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, with multiple rounds expected over the next several days.
The alert is for the entire state of Minnesota, with the worst of the wildfire smoke in northwestern Minnesota. Northwestern Minnesota is in a maroon air quality index, indicating hazardous conditions for everyone.
MPCA Meteorologist Matt Taraldsen says you can stay safe by wearing an N-95 mask, staying indoors where there’s good filtration, and limiting your exertion outdoors.
