Two Injured in Crash North of Fergus Falls

Fergus Falls, MN – Two people are injured following a crash in rural Fergus Falls on Tuesday afternoon (June 3rd).

Otter Tail County Deputies responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of County Highway 1 and County Highway 10 northeast of the city at around 12:40 p.m.

Deputies say a pickup driven by 70-year-old Robert Phillips of Holton, Kansas was eastbound on Highway 10, making a left turn onto Highway 1, and failed to yield to the stop sign, causing a crash with an SUV driven by 70-year-old Kevin Niemela of Dent.

Niemela and his passenger, 72-year-old Jean Niemala, were transported to Lake Region Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene. Deputies are investigating and charges are pending from the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fergus Falls Police and Fire Departments, Ringdahl Ambulance, and Beyer Towing.
