Wahpeton, ND (KFGO) – A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Ray Ruschel, who gained national attention when he played football for the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton at age 50.
Ruschel has been charged with felony gross sexual imposition. Court documents filed in Richland County District Court say Ruschel engaged in sexual activity with a woman who was sleeping in his Wahpeton apartment in November of 2024. He denied the claims, but was linked to the assault through DNA.
Ruschel had served in the National Guard and worked an overnight job when he played football at the State College of Science in 2022.
