Runners are lacing up their running shoes, the 16th annual Lake Region Run that will take place this Saturday. The races will all start and finish at Dr Allen Magnuson Park.
This year’s finishers medals are inspired by the otters at the splash pad, Race Director Karoline Gustafson;” the medal for this year is the Otters fountains that are down at the splash pad in downtown Fergus Falls that were made by Blayze Buseth at the creation shop. So, it’s pretty cool, there’re 3D metal this year, and they can actually stand on their base.”
With all of the runners out on the course it will affect several roads around town, Gustafson, “The biggest ones are Mill Street and Lake Alice. So, if you’re up in those areas on Saturday morning we’re going to have about 400ish people on the roads up there so if you’re planning to make a quick jet through over there it’s not going to be quick. So just make sure you’re paying attention to essentially the North and South Road from Mill Street all the way through Lake.”
There will be early packet pickup and registration Friday evening from 5 to 7. Packet pickup and registration will continue Saturday morning from 7 to 8:30.
The first race to start is the 10-mile and 10-mile relay at 7:30. Then the one mile will start at 8:15 followed by the 5K at 9. Awards will follow.
