Barnesville, MN – A Barnesville school bus was in a crash in rural Moorhead Friday afternoon (June 6th).
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says dispatchers received the report of a bus crash with a passenger vehicle on Old Highway 52 at the intersection of 60th Avenue South, just before 4 p.m. and that there were students on board.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered there were 37 kids on the bus between Kindergarten and 4th Grade coming home from a field trip. No one on the bus was injured, including the bus driver and two other adults. Deputies also learned the driver of the passenger car, a juvenile male, and his passenger were also not injured in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and other details will be released later.
The intersection of 60th Avenue South and Old Highway 52 is scheduled to be reconstructed to be a roundabout style intersection in 2026.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Sabin Fire and Rescue, Sanford Ambulance, and the Red River Regional Dispatch Center.
