Dalton, MN – On Monday evening (June 9th), the Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners welcomed residents to an open house at the Dalton Community Center.
Representatives from several departments participated, sharing updates and answering questions. County Engineer Krysten Foster gave an overview of the 2025 construction season and highlighted long-range transportation planning efforts. Foster encouraged residents to visit highway department booths at summer community events to provide input on road safety and future transportation needs.
Chris McConn and Nick Heeter from the Solid Waste Department outlined key projects, including progress on the Henning Transfer Station and upcoming Household Hazardous Waste mobile collection events. They also highlighted the new Countywide Curbside Single-Sort Recycling program, which will reach the Dalton area in 2029.
Amy Baldwin, community development and housing director, highlighted the North Fields of Dalton senior housing project. The Housing and Redevelopment Authority owns the development, which supports aging in place for area residents. Baldwin said two homes remain available for seniors to rent.
District 3 Commissioner Kurt Mortenson thanked residents for attending and encouraged continued community engagement.
“We want to remain accessible to our residents and will continue to work to find answers to their questions,” Mortenson said.
The Board of Commissioners thanks all who participated. For more information about ongoing county projects and services, visit ottertailcounty.gov.
