Detroit Lakes, MN – The burglary trial of state Senator Nicole Mitchell of Woodbury is being delayed for a second time.
Jury selection was scheduled to begin today (July 16th) in Becker County, but has been postponed following the fatal shootings of House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband. Before setting a new trial date, the judge must now approve a continuance.
Senator Mitchell is accused of breaking into her stepmotherās Detroit Lakes home in April 2024. The trial was delayed in January due to the start of 2025 legislative session.
