Fergus Falls, MN – Two firefighters were hurt while putting out a house fire in Fergus Falls on Tuesday afternoon (June 17th).

The Fergus Falls Fire Department responded to a house fire on the corner of Sheridan Street and Vernon Avenue after receiving a report from a passerby at about 12:45 p.m. When crews arrived, smoke could be seen coming from the eaves of both the first and second floors.

Division Chief Dan Lipson says crews checked the house for victims, extinguished the fire, and completed an overhaul of the area damaged by the fire, which was contained to the back of the house. He says there was also smoke damage throughout the building, with all the damage being estimated to cost about $50,000 to repair.

Lipson says two firefighters sustained minor injuries and no civilians were injured. The home was unoccupied at the time, with no need for housing assistance for the owner.

The fire has been determined to have been an unintentional electrical fire.

The Fergus Falls Fire Department was assisted by the Fergus Falls Police Department, Ringdahl Ambulance, Ottertail Power Company, and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office.
