Fergus Falls, MN – A man has been sentenced for fleeing Fergus Falls police while driving high.
On Monday (June 23rd), 24-year-old Jonathan Michael Stueve of Fergus Falls was sentenced to 30 days at the Otter Tail County Detention Facility, which is to be served out with community service instead of jail time, and 5 years on probation.
According to court documents, on November 18th, 2024, Fergus Falls Police responded to a report of an SUV driving all over the road on West Alcott Avenue and South Tower Road, weaving back and forth and hitting a curb. An officer located the vehicle parked at an angle in between two lanes and initiated a traffic stop. The officer says when they got out of squad car to speak with Stueve, he sped away, forcing the officer to run back to their vehicle and follow him as he drove around erratically, eventually stopping on County Highway 114.
Stueve was taken into custody, and the officer found an unmarked bottle of Hydrocodone pills on him, as well as prescription drugs and marijuana in the backseat of his vehicle. Stueve was taken to the Otter Tail County Detention Facility, where he performed a field sobriety test. Officers say that Stueve told them that he had taken a non-prescribed Vicodin, along with taking his prescribed meds and smoking marijuana an hour prior. When officers asked if he knew where he was, Stueve said he believed he was in the hospital.
Back in May, Stueve pleaded guilty to fleeing law enforcement, 5th degree possession of drugs, and driving while under the influence.
