The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says that they have been notified of a scam call going around the area. A caller reported that they received a call from a party claiming to be Sgt. Mekash with the OTC Sheriff’s Office, and it was in regard to HIPPA paperwork.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds the public to not give out personal information over the phone to include social security numbers, dates of birth, and medical or banking information. If you cannot decipher if a phone call is a scam call our non-emergency number to reach dispatch. 218-998-8555.
