Lake Region Receives 5 Star CMS Rating for Second Year in a Row

Fergus Falls, MN – Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) has received the highest achievement possible from The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This marks the second year in a row LRH has achieved this superior rating, ranking in the top 10% among the 2,891 U.S. hospitals rated.

“This is validation of the highest quality of care we strive to provide each patient every day,” said Dr. Matt Mouser, Chief Medical Officer and internal medicine Hospitalist at LRH. “It signifies excellence, and I am extremely proud of my colleagues for their dedication to providing the best possible care to our community.”

CMS developed its ‘Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings’ program to help consumers make informed health care decisions by giving them a way to compare hospitals based on quality ratings. Hospitals receive between one and five stars, with five stars being the highest rating. Only 291 nationwide received the five-star Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating for 2025 which is 91 fewer than in 2024.

Lake Region Healthcare CEO Kent Mattson says it’s an honor to receive the five-star rating from CMS and to rank among the top 10% of U.S. hospitals.
