Eagan, MN – Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy has a new back-up.
The Vikes signed former first-round QB Carson Wentz to a contract yesterday. Wentz will take over for Sam Howell, who was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles after a disappointing showing at training camp. Minnesota also sent a 2026 sixth round pick to Philadelphia and received a 2026 fifth rounder and a 2027 seventh rounder.
Wentz was a back up in Kansas City last year, passing for 118 yards in three appearances. Wentz is a former North Dakota State standout, who grew up in Bismarck as a Vikings fans.
