Breckenridge, MN – Breckenridge High School classes are going virtual this week due to flooding in the elementary school.

Breckenridge Public Schools Superintendent Kristie Sullivan says Grades 7-12 will shift to emergency virtual learning, while grades K-6 will continue in-person learning, but shift over to the high school.

Classes for the elementary students were supposed to begin last week, but were cancelled after water main breaks flooded the basement of the building. Sullivan says that while great progress is being made on the repairs and cleanup, the building is not ready for students to return to safely.

“We recognize that this is not how anyone hoped to begin the school year, and we deeply appreciate your patience and flexibility,” Sullivan says. “These adjustments are necessary to allow for comprehensive cleaning, repairs, and safety checks at the elementary school so that we can welcome students back into a safe and prepared environment as soon as possible.”

Preschool and Pre-K classes that were supposed to begin today have been cancelled.
