Fatal crash in Wilkin County. (KVRR)
Wolverton, MN – The identities of the drivers involved in a fiery and fatal accident between a tanker semi and a road grader in Wilkin County have been released.
The State Patrol says 40-year-old Nicolas Terfehr of Wahpeton was killed after his tanker semi collided with a John Deere road grader. Both vehicles were heading south on County Road 3, southeast of Wolverton, at around 4:30 Thursday afternoon when they crashed. The vehicles ended up in the ditch, with the grader landing on its roof and the tanker on its wheels.
Troopers say it is not known if Terfehr was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash or if the airbag was deployed. The driver of the grader, 44-year-old Darin Differding of Hankinson, was transported to Breckenridge Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The State Patrol continues to investigate.
The State Patrol was assisted by the Wilkin and Clay County Sheriff’s Offices, Rothsay Fire, Barnesville Fire and Ambulance, and the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
