Work began on the $22.8 million project in April 2024, and was completed in stages over two construction seasons. The completed work included:
- Reconstructing and resurfacing Highway 59 and Highway 108 in the city of Pelican Rapids
- Replacing more than 20 blocks of city utilities
- Constructing roundabouts at the two junctions of Highway 59 and Highway 108
- Realigning the intersection at Highway 59 and County Road 9
- Installing new sidewalks and shared-use path
MnDOT thanks the entire Pelican Rapids community for their patience, cooperation and commitment to safety throughout the two years of road work.
A separate project will take place in 2026 for planting the trees downtown.
