Fergus Falls, MN – Two women have been charged with 3rd Degree Assault in Otter Tail County for holding a woman’s head underwater on the Fourth of July.
Prosecutors say 23-year-old Miranda Paige Odgers of Dent was having an argument with the victim in the Otter Tail River, when she and Isabelle Serena Needham of Fergus Falls began assaulting the victim.
The victim told Otter Tail County deputies that Odgers and Needham jumped her, held her head underwater and punched her in the head and neck multiple times. She also said that towards the end of the assault, an unknown third woman joined in.
Deputies spoke with multiple witnesses that saw Odgers and Needham hold her underwater and hit her. Court documents say the victim sustained bruises around her head and neck and was diagnosed with a concussion.
Deputies later spoke with Needham, who said Odgers and the victim had been arguing over a boyfriend, but that they did not hold the victim underwater.
Odgers and Needham both made their first court appearances Monday morning (December 1).
