Moorhead, MN – A man is dead following a workplace accident Tuesday morning in north Moorhead. The victim of the workplace accident that occurred at Bert’s Truck Equipment has been identified as 51-year-old Stacy Martin from Fargo, North Dakota.
Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting says the preliminary investigation indicates Martin was working with a lift axle on a truck when a temporary weld failed, causing the axle to fall onto his chest and abdominal area. Other employees in the shop were able to lift the axle off Martin.
He was conscious when crews arrived but lost consciousness en route to Sanford Medical Center, where he later died. Martin was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office in St. Paul for an autopsy.
This incident remains under investigation, and no further information is being released at this time
