Parkers Prairie, MN – A family of seven has lost their home due to a fire early New Year’s Eve.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a house fire on East Lake Street in Parkers Prairie just after 7 a.m. When fire crews from the Parkers Prairie Fire Department arrived, the house was completely engulfed in flames.

Officials say three residents of the home were inside when the fire was first reported, but they were able to evacuate without injury. It is believed that one dog was killed in the blaze. The house is considered a total loss, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Along with the Parkers Prairie Fire Department, crews from the Miltona and Henning Fire Departments responded to the scene to extinguish the fire. The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, Parkers Prairie Police Department, Parkers Prairie Ambulance Service, and the MN State Fire Marshall’s Office all assisted at the scene.
