Man Arrested for Alexandria Stabbing

Alexandria, MN (Voice of Alexandria) – On Saturday evening, Alexandria Police responded to a reported stabbing at an apartment on Aga Drive.

There was an argument between two adult males. Officers located the 36-year-old male victim, who had sustained stab wounds to his abdominal area. Officers, deputies, and EMS personnel provided lifesaving care before he was taken to Alomere Health and later airlifted.

The suspect, 55-year-old Gebretinsaye Meles, was known to the victim and has been taken into custody.

There were no other people involved in this incident. Officers found what appears to be the suspected weapon at the scene and will be processed as evidence.

The Alexandria Police Department was assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and North Memorial Ambulance. This remains an active investigation.
